Accounting Manager

Position Title:                    Accounting Manager

Classification:                   Part-Time (15-20 hrs./week)

Operations Manager


POSITION DESCRIPTION:  This position oversees the accounting needs that meet the business objectives for JA.  The ideal candidate will be self-confident, independent, outgoing, and thrive on innovation and collaboration.  They will be free to take charge of assignments, create new ideas and work independently to solve problems.  This person is an integral member of the team working to develop and implement the organization’s long-term strategies for growth, partner engagement, stewardship, and financial stability.



  • Sage software entry; payables, receivables, invoicing
  • Accounts payable & receivable; submission of payables report for approval
  • Audit/990 Coordination
  • BCRM Revenue Entry
  • Acknowledgement letter administration
  • Bank Accounts, BCRM & SAGE monthly reconciliation
  • Payroll oversight & reconciliation
  • Investment accounts reconciliation (as applicable)
  • Monthly financial reports: Income Statements & Balance Sheet (submitted to JA USA monthly)
  • Monthly cashflow reporting
  • QGiv reporting/reconciliation; Sage & BCRM
  • Bank account deposits
  • Prepare weekly payables report for approval
  • Facilitate monthly employee expense reports
  • Monthly credit card statement reconciliation
  • Facilitate JA Board Finance/Audit Committee
  • Miscellaneous financial support as needed


  • Attend Board meetings.
  • Support special events and other projects.
  • Maintain flexibility and willingness to take on other duties as necessary.



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (3-5 years) in accounting and finance.
  • Proficient in Sage software
  • Computer literacy in MS Office (Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), MS Teams
  • Non-profit working environment preferred, but not required
