Salary: $12HR ($24,960) – $18HR ($37,440)

The Thomas M. Wernert Center (TMWC) is looking for a communications specialist to manage and implement strategic and engaging communications campaigns involving members and donors, including marketing of virtual programming, and fund raising events. The Communications Specialist will handle the day-to-day
needs of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn), help create monthly social media campaigns, and support building an engaging online audience. Experience with InDesign, Constant Contact, PowerPoint, and other design tools a plus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Write and edit compelling and creative content for website, blog, social media sites and other communications collateral.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented with the ability to interact with members, donors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve, meet deadlines and follow-through on work assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Write, edit, proof and coordinate production of electronic and print materials for publication.
  • Assist program facilitators with virtual attendance using online screen sharing and meeting technology.
  • Market virtual programing to targeted audiences
  • Research current mental health and recovery content and posting on social media accounts to improve engagement.
  • Track social media engagement to identify areas of high performance.
  • Develop and participate in community outreach activities at public, social, and business events to increase awareness and disseminate information about TMWC.
  • Support fundraising, development, and grant writing as necessary.

Qualifications & Education

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in marketing and communications.
  • Highly collaborative team player willing to jump in to support others on the team.
  • Excellent written communications skills with knowledge of AP Style guidelines.
  • Ability to provide on-site technology assistance with video, telephone, and teleconference connections.
  • Creative and strategic problem solver.
  • Strong project management skills.
