TITLE – COMPUTER LAB COORDINATOR

SALARY – $14.00 – $20.00/HR ($29,120 – $41,600 annually)

40 HOURS PER WEEK WITH MEDICAL, DENTAL, LIFE, SHORT TERM DISABILITY, EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, RETIREMENT (403B) AND PAID TIME OFF

If you are passionate about mental health and have a desire to provide support and creative programming for individuals (referred to as members) living with mental illness in a unique, non-clinical setting, please consider joining the Thomas M. Wernert Center (TMWC) team as Computer Lab Coordinator. We are looking for someone who is patient, tolerant, and shows respect for all individuals. Maintaining a positive environment for members is valued over technical skills.

 Note: TMWC is currently open for programming by appointment only, Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm. Practices are in place according to Responsible Restart Ohio to address the COVID–19 Pandemic.

Job Duties:

  • Manage a 15-station Computer Lab during scheduled programming and open computer lab hours. Must be present in Lab while in use by members.
  • Oversee the scheduling of all programs in the Computer Lab (currently by appointment only)
  • Provide one-on-one and group computer instruction at varying member levels, taking into account individual member’s abilities and interests. Goal is engagement.
  • Provide basic introduction to computer skills, including:
  • keyboard/typing instruction, terminology
  • navigating the computer/browser/mouse
  • Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
  • Internet searches
  • Wacom Intuos Pen and Tablet
  • Resume writing
  • Familiarity with Lumosity and Kahn Academy or similar programs
  • Monitor appropriate music, Internet searches, and online uses to ensure adherence to TMWC Guidelines and Policies
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations and lab; adhere to Responsible Restart Ohio to address COVID – 19
  • Basic troubleshooting of equipment prior to reporting malfunction to appropriate personnel
  • Operate all Computer Lab equipment in a safe manner
  • Maintain accurate records of activities and members using the Computer Lab for grants and data reports
  • Maintain Annual Computer Lab budget

Experience, Educational Qualifications and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) will be considered with extensive Computer Lab experience
  • Associate Degree in a related field preferred
  • Computer Lab experience preferred: teaching experience in any discipline will be accepted, with a solid knowledge of computers through personal or work experience
  • Knowledge of Computer Lab operation with troubleshooting and technical support experience
  • Ability to communicate instructions to new, and intermediate-level users
  • Experience working with adults living with mental illness and/or substance use disorders, developmental disabilities, or related fields in social service preferred
  • Personal or lived experience with mental illness preferred
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Needs minimal or no oversight to complete duties
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of members, employees, and volunteers in a team environment and possess characteristics such as patience and tolerance, while demonstrating behaviors that reflect respect for all persons
