Mission
Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and all people to provide safe, decent and affordable housing for low-income individuals and families in Lucas County, Ohio.

Position Summary:
The Construction Site Supervisor assists with the overall construction plan utilizing staff, novice and skilled volunteer labor and materials to build, rehab and recycle houses. This role is responsible for overseeing these projects and managing assigned job sites, managing and training volunteers, coordinating plan updates, and ensuring construction quality and workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Construction Planning
• Ensure a complete understanding of scope of work for each project.
• With Volunteer assistance, ensure that Habitat has appropriate, well maintained tools for construction, and materials are delivered to work sites when needed
• Evaluate subcontractor bids, recommend contracts, and monitor timely and accurate project completion
• Utilize in-kind materials and labor when possible.
• Provide maintenance and construction education opportunities for partner families and homeowners

Construction Management
• Oversee all aspects of new, rehab and recycle projects to ensure timely completion
• Work with staff to ensure that partner families are productively involved in the construction process
• Ensure timely delivery and appropriate security of materials
• Ensure tool/equipment inventory, management and repairs
• Establish, follow and evaluate worksite safety program, facilitate safety talks, and routinely submit completed sign-in sheets to ensure Safety Policy is adhered to at all job sites
• Provide weekly plan updates to other affiliate staff including estimated completion dates
• Guarantee completion of all repairs under warranty for homeowners
• In conjunction with Volunteer Manager, identify, schedule, train, and develop volunteers for expanded roles
• Supervise assigned job sites
• Oversee all areas of project to ensure that all new home construction is built to Energy Star standards
• Ensure daily updates of project progress are confirmed, evaluated and formally updated on project plan
• Address any schedule and planning issues with the Executive Director, Construction Manager, Quality and Resource Manager, Project Manager and Corporate Engagement Manager as appropriate
• Identify any significant Change to Scopes of Work and communicate with the Habitat team and Partner Family

Grant Requirements
• Work with Development Director to ensure construction-related grant requirements are fulfilled. Update Development Director with progress and potential issues as needed.

Gift-In-Kind
• Work with Development Director and Corporate Engagement Manager to find best fits for Gift-In-Kind opportunities of construction materials and volunteers.

Communication and Relationships
• Work in a team environment
• Establish good working relationship with volunteers and future homeowners
• Respond appropriately to common inquiries or complaints from future homeowners
• Develop working relationships with contractors and vendors
• Help project sponsors understand how to have a meaningful volunteer experience
• Other tasks of the affiliate as requested by the Executive Director or Quality and Resource Manager

Required knowledge and skills
• Commitment to Habitat for Humanity ideals and philosophy
• Ability to work with people of all races, faiths, cultures, and backgrounds
• A strong background in comprehensive home construction including framing, siding installation, trim work and with at least five years of related experience
• Familiar with Ohio and local build regulations; will become knowledgeable in Habitat standards and construction programs
• Familiarity with and commitment to cost-effective energy standards such as Energy Star, and specific grant program requirements related to energy standards
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Computer literacy a must, including Word and Excel; other Construction Management Software, (BuilderTrend) is a plus.
• Flexible schedule and availability Tuesday-Saturday
• Attend training and conferences as appropriate

Certificates, licenses and registrations
• Driver’s license
• CPR , First Aid and AED certification
• 10 Hour OSHA training or HFHI Competent Person Training
• Fork lift or heavy equipment certification helpful
