Development Database Specialist – Hospice of Northwest Ohio

This position is responsible for accurate entry of donor gifts into the database, processing daily batches, creation of accurate gift acknowledgement letters, management of the donor database, creation of queries and reports, and general development office support and donor customer service.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a general office environment with data entry responsibilities required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a Development department required. Previous experience with memorial and tribute module also preferred.
  • Associates degree or higher required.
  • Strong data entry and computer skills with experience and proficiency in a donor management software required; must also be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Raiser’s Edge strongly preferred.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Possesses strong analytical skills.
  • Understands and is committed to the hospice philosophy.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily operation of the development donor database and acts as Raiser’s Edge “super user” for agency.
  • Accurately enters all received gifts and pledges into the agency’s development database system on a daily basis; acknowledges all gifts, pledges, and pledge payments and prepares receipts within established time frames.
  • Reviews daily gift batch reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the gift entry and acknowledgement process.
  • Adds new constituent records to the database as needed, analyzes information and populates all appropriate data fields where information is available.
  • Populates database with relationship and call report information previously not captured.
  • Assists Development Coordinator with various departmental activities as needed.
  • Processes requests from donors and prospects, including requests to have information updated or removed from mailing lists.
  • Produces various reports pertaining to the gift entry process, including “Gift Validation” and “General Ledger Pre-Posting Report;” distributes the reports to the appropriate staff.
  • Collects, verifies and prepares for processing all corporate matching gifts.
  • Responsible for learning and utilizing technology made available by the agency to increase efficiency, communication and performance of duties.
  • Participates in the agency’s Quality Improvement program.
  • Attends staff meetings and completes all mandatory training.
  • Holds in strictest confidence all donor and patient information and discloses information and data only to persons authorized by Hospice.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
