Position Summary

With support from the leadership team, the Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing fundraising activities in support of the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank’s mission and goals. This includes, but is not limited to, identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of corporate and foundation gifts, major individual gifts, planned giving, special events, grant writing, and direct mail. A primary focus will be to implement a planned giving program. The salary range for this position is $50,000 – $60,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages and evaluates all fundraising activities to ensure annual revenue goals are achieved.
  • Supervises staff engaged in fund development and marketing/communications
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors and prospective donors.
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive donor cultivation and stewardship plan.
  • Oversees the planning and execution of special events.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of fundraising activities and programs. Develops and implements innovative strategies for continuous improvement of fundraising strategies and operations.
  • Coordinates direct mail activities with third party fundraising firm to maximize direct mail revenue.
  • Coordinates the design, publication, and distribution of marketing and communication materials for resource development purposes (digital and print).
  • Prepare materials for use in cultivating and soliciting major and planned gifts.
  • Leverage existing relationships in order to create new opportunities by identifying existing donors with the affinity and capacity to continue and grow support for our programs and services.
  • Build and manage a strong portfolio of prospects and donors, paying attention to the balance between discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Creates positive donor relations by assuming primary responsibility for providing technical support and options regarding planned and deferred gifts.
  • Create an appropriate stewardship plan to maintain ongoing relationships with donors who have made planned giving commitments.
  • Meet with planned giving prospects and take strategic steps to move them through the gift cycle of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Passion for the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank’s mission to end hunger
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Outstanding written, verbal, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational and managerial skills
  • Full computer proficiency with standard Microsoft Office programs including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Proficiency with fundraising and communications software
  • Must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Must be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
