TitleDIRECTOR, FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM

Reports to:  Executive Director

Position Summary: Plans and coordinate activities for the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP).

Responsibilities:  May include but not limited to:

  • Recruit, interview, train and place new FGP volunteers.
  • Provide orientation for new volunteer trainees.
  • Develop new volunteer stations and placements.
  • Prepare program reports, in-kind reports, correspondence and future grant proposals for local, state and federal agencies.
  • Plan and prepare meaningful in-service monthly trainings as required.
  • Conduct annual evaluations of volunteers and workstation satisfaction.
  • Plan FGP recognition events.
  • Maintain station communication regarding evaluations, childcare plans and memorandums of understanding.
  • Assist teachers in the development of required childcare plans.
  • Implement programming for impact and performance measure principles and approaches in program development, volunteer placement and project assessment.
  • Develop, maintain and coordinate a Community Advisory Group for the program.  Provide staff support to the group, keep informed of important information, and solicit their advice.

Qualifications:

The Director will have the ability to establish a warm, friendly and approachable relationship with volunteers.  Excellent organization and communication skills to maintain and expand the FGP and support volunteers with confidence.  A minimum of a high school diploma and two years of professional training in the field of gerontology, sociology, psychology, or other related social service field. Exceptional organizational skills. Previous work experience with federal grants is desired. Computer use including Microsoft Office, email and internet. Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
