Director of Advancement

Job Title:  Director of Advancement

 

Reports to:  Board of Directors, TutorSmart

 

Position Summary:  The Director of Advancement is responsible for planning, organizing and directing TutorSmart’s fundraising activities.  The Director works closely with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees to ensure successful fundraising endeavors.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Expands local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing TutorSmart programs and future program expansion, including corporate, individual, foundations and events.

 

  1. Uses external presence and relationships to expand existing donor base and cultivate new donors.

 

  1. Uses external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities and potential sources of income.

 

  1. Oversees grant seeking process including research, proposal writing and reporting requirements.
  2. Develops, maintains and supports a strong Board of Directors. Serves as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors and attends board meetings.

 

  1. Assists the Board of Directors, committees and staff with the strategic direction for TutorSmart.

 

  1. Is a contributing member of the Advancement and Finance Committees of TutorSmart, and other committees as appropriate.

 

  1. Oversees and maintains fundraising database and tracking systems.

 

  1. Assists with creation of publications to support fundraising activities.

 

  1. Ensures the mission of TutorSmart is executed and fulfilled.

 

  1. Participates and represents the organization in community and civic activities. Influences local, state and federal educational issues in accordance with organizational/individual ability and opportunity.

 

  1. Performs other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

Demonstrable experience and qualifications include:

  1. Undergraduate college degree.

 

  1. Strong marketing, public relations and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.

 

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills: a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal abilities.

 

  1. Knowledge of grant writing and history of securing grant funding.

 

  1. Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.

 

  1. Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable and innovative approach to development and strategic planning.

 

  1. Passion, idealism, integrity and commitment to the mission of TutorSmart.
