SISTERS of NOTRE DAME (SND)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 TITLE:  Director, Mission Advancement – Toledo Region      FLSA: Exempt, Full-Time (40 hrs/wk)

Salary range: $90,000-$100,000/year

 PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of annual, major gifts and planned gifts, to benefit programs and ministries operated by the Sisters of Notre Dame.
  2. Build a strong and unique regional advancement program that leverages local connections and works seamlessly within the SND USA Mission Advancement program.
  3. Develop and implement an active donor stewardship program, stewardship visits and activities, and new donor cultivation.
  4. Develop and oversee annual event(s) and other small group, donor-centered programs as appropriate throughout the year to further SND advancement priorities.
  5. Steward donors and manage a portfolio of major prospects. Provide strategies for developing major donors and ensuring timely steps are taken toward solicitation and continued cultivation of donors through improved communications.
  6. Strategize sources of funding through foundation grants, both locally and nationally.
  7. Work collaboratively with SND USA marketing & communication partners to ensure a strong marketing component that enhances the full-service development program, including quarterly publications, social media, brochures, promotional materials, etc.
  8. Build a strong fundraising program and work with both the local and national Mission Advancement staffs to achieve goals.
  9. Oversee advancement office personnel activities, including hiring, definition of job responsibilities and performance review of staff in the regional Mission Advancement Office.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  1. Five to seven years of non-profit advancement work, with an established record of successful fundraising experience and a strong background in individual giving, donor relations and stewardship.
  2. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage, market and educate SND donors and prospects on opportunities for philanthropic support.
  4. Strong management and leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to build, manage, mentor and motivate an effective team.
  1. Collaborative skills to work effectively with the various SND teams in the other regions, the ability to maintain confidentiality and to exhibit good judgment in making decisions.
  1. Ability to communicate and listen effectively, interacting with all levels of staff.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. CFRE certification and/or member of National Society of Fundraising Executives desired.

 WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position that will require occasional variance from regular office hours to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.  Must be able to work in busy office setting with numerous interruptions.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Director, Mission Advancement – Toledo will report directly to the Director, Mission Advancement SND USA.
