Education Manager

DESCRIPTION:  This full time position is responsible for managing the development, execution and refinement of a variety of programs both inside and outside the facility. These programs include (but are not limited to): Summer camp, scout workshops, early childhood workshops, home school workshops and outreach. This position manages a team of people to deliver these programs. This position reports directly to the Senior Education Manager and requires a willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities:        

  • Manage and coordinate the team responsible for delivery of programs
  • Manage delivery goals and budget for all relevant programs
  • Coordinate with the Senior Education Manager to develop new program offerings for the science center
  • Evaluate all existing programs to ensure all programs are delivered to meet Imagination Station’s high standard for program delivery
  • Manage all requirements for grants/sponsorships including compliance for deliverables, communication with partners, maintaining the timeline and developing future programming
  • Coordinate with the Chief Scientist to develop activities and train team to deliver all science spots on television
  • Provide leadership and a positive role model for Team in how to effectively deliver science experiences to our visitors
  • Identify staffing needs and support the Education Coordinator in the management of Educators
  • Manage all activities related to Summer Camp, including partnerships for off-site camps.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Education is preferred, or related experience in education, science or museum studies
  • Background or interest in science is preferred
  • Working knowledge of the Ohio and Michigan Common Core
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized and efficient in time management
  • Willingness to learn, take direction and work independently and efficiently
  • Self-starter who demonstrates initiative, creativity and flexibility while efficiently working with others
  • Comfortable presenting science curriculum to students, families, schools and other community organizations
  • 2 years supervisory experience preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, with a safe driving record and be capable of operating the Imagination Station owned minivan for program purposes
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to provide occasional transportation to events within the Toledo area
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds above the waist
