Executive Director
Title: Executive Director
Reports to: Board of Directors, Executive Committee
Sylvania Area Family Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Executive Director who is passionate
about our mission and able to lead with excellence. The Executive Director will be responsible for
overseeing all aspects of the organization’s operations, including fundraising, program development,
financial management, and staff supervision. In addition to their operational responsibilities, the
Executive Director will be a passionate and hands-on leader who inspires others to engage with our
mission. They will work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure that the organization is fulfilling
its mission and serving its constituents effectively. The Executive Director will also be responsible
for cultivating and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and
community leaders. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about our organization’s mission and
committed to achieving our goals. The Executive Director will be a strategic thinker who is able to
balance short-term needs with long-term planning. They will have excellent communication skills
and be able to represent our organization to a variety of audiences.
Qualifications:
● Degree in Human Development & Family Studies, Communication, Social Work, Education or
Law (OR equivalent experience as per the below)
● 3-5 years in a Management or Leadership Capacity
● 3-5 years of experience in Non-Profit
● 3-5 years of experience in fundraising or outside sales or in a non-profit organization or in a
similar capacity
● Demonstrated verbal communication skills to include: large and small group presentations,
group facilitation and training
● Demonstrated skill in written communications to include: clear and concise narrative reports,
evaluations, social media, website content, press-releases and grant writing.
● Ability to read, comprehend and analyze number goals, as well as fundraising reports
● Skill in use of QuickBooks as well as spreadsheet/database analysis
● Must have at least basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing,
email, presentations, and spreadsheets
● Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier
items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance
may be required before lifting and/or moving
Responsibilities:
● The Executive Director will provide direct coaching and supervision to four staff members,
which includes: Community Outreach Coordinator, Social Service Coordinator Assistant
Social Service Coordinator and Youth Diversion Coordinator.
● This individual will also manage:
○ Volunteer Personnel
○ Building and maintenance
○ Overview of all programs
● Devise and implement the strategy and direction for the market’s outreach and revenue
efforts.
○ Ray of Hope and On Tap and Uncorked Fundraising Events
○ SAFS Annual Giving Campaign
○ Holiday Assistance Program
○ Back 2 School Backpack Distribution
○ Food Pantry & Community Meals
○ Personal Care Distribution
○ Senior Commodities
○ Summer Enrichment Camp
○ Youth Diversion
● Build powerful partnerships with volunteer, community, and corporate leaders, sponsors, and
other internal and external stakeholders.
● Maintain all records required by county and state regulations.
● Work with the Board of Directors and staff to develop and implement the organization’s
strategic plan and annual budget.
● Submit timely updates on all programs to the Board of Directors and/or Executive
Committee.(Quarterly Board Meetings)
Benefits Package:
● Base Salary starting at $62,000, commensurate with experience + possibility to earn
bonus
