Executive Director (Part-Time) BeInstrumental

The Executive Director works in partnership with the Board of Directors and volunteer
committee members to provide leadership, vision and direction for the organization; in
concert with the Board of Directors to set a strategic plan of action. The Executive
Director implements policies approved by the Board, manages the organization’s task
list and operations and represents the organization in the community.

The Executive Director is to oversee and guide all of the committees, and if there are
any shortcomings in the committees, is responsible for recruiting others to do the work
or assume the responsibilities.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of BeInstrumental’s
musical education programs and instrument donation programs, and supports
the overall mission of BeInstrumental.

2. Assists the Board of Director’s Treasurer in developing an annual budget, and
making financial decisions consistent with the budget as approved by the Board
of Directors. Collaborates with the Treasurer in strategic discussions about
financial stability and sustainability. Communicates and provides financial
oversight of all organization matters.

3. Develops a committee structure that supports the efficient delivery of music
programs, services and fundraising events.

4. Recruits volunteer committee members, facilitates monthly meetings, and
provides leadership for each committee. Encourages independent
decision-making throughout the volunteer organization and maintains a climate
that attracts, keeps and motivates a diverse planning group of quality people

5. Leads fundraising efforts, including involvement of the Board of Directors in
fundraising, personally identifying, cultivating and soliciting individual donors and corporate sponsors, implementing fundraising plans and policies approved by the Board of Directors. Maintains contact list of donors and potential donors.

6. Provides regular reports to the Board President that includes recent community
contacts and updates on each committee’s activities including progress on the
task list

7. Builds positive relationships with partner organizations, schools, musicians,
parents, policymakers, media and stakeholders.

8. Represents BeInstrumental. by participating in key associations and
organizations, serving on committees and advisory groups and speaking in public
settings

9. Ensures that the organization complies with all Federal, State(s) and local legal
requirements.

The successful candidate will:

● Possess leadership skills, demonstrated experience working with and leading
volunteers.
● Be well networked in the Northwest Ohio community
● Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
● Possess strong interpersonal skills.
● Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel).
● Prior not-for-profit experience, event management, marketing and proven
fundraising skills are a plus
● Have a passion for music education

The position is part time throughout the year.
