Beach House Inc., dba Leading Families Home is a 501(c)3 charity serving the Toledo area community for nearly 100 years. We provide resources to support homeless families as they transition to permanent housing. Our Mission is helping families transition from homelessness to permanent housing with the Vision of building a better future for our community by providing life-changing resources. Leading Families Home serves over 1,000 individuals annually, including children. Our environment is challenging and collaborative. You will have the opportunity to work with individuals dedicated to making a positive impact in our participant’s lives and our community funded by a variety of sources including complex government grants.

Purpose: Leading Families Home is seeking a full-time, self-motivated, experienced individual to fill the position of Finance Director. This position is full-time and will work under the direction of the Executive Director implement the financial goals of the agency. Serve in senior leadership role for all aspects of financial management, including for budgeting, timely production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, maintenance of the accounting system and comprehensive controls, grant management and administration, grant set-up, grant analysis, supervision of accounting staff, ensure compliance with GAAP and funder requirements, risk mitigation.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with an accounting major or equivalent; five years of relevant accounting experience with grant administration and accounting management in a nonprofit/fund accounting environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams and Great Plains accounting software. Must be willing and able to perform all aspects, duties, and tasks in the finance department regardless of staff size.

Primary Responsibilities:

Maintain all financial systems and accounts:

  • Maintain and oversee all transactions with financial institutions
  • Responsible for coordinating and facilitating all financial audits of the organization including annual audit
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual financial reports (for internal use and to meet grant requirements)
  • Monthly, quarterly, annual variance analysis (actual to budget, actual to prior year, etc.)
  • Prepare for and coordinate audits
  • Provide supervision of daily accounting functions in accordance to GAAP
  • Develop and update rolling P&L and cash flow forecasts
  • Partner in the development and monitoring of financial plans
  • Monitor preparation and submission of all local, state, and federal taxes (payroll tax payments and reporting are done by payroll company)
  • Ensure cross training of all procedures and requirements within the accounting/finance department

Develop and Maintain Grant Accountability

  • Daily administration and management of established, new and proposed grants
  • Collaborate with Program Director with the development of all grant budgets
  • Comprehend, evaluate, review, manage grant allocations, grant documentation, grant draw requests within grant deadline parameters
  • Establish grants in accounting systems
  • Provide oversight of compliance with grantors, local, state, and federal regulations, and laws

Other duties include:

  • Collaboration with all areas of the agency to identify business needs and to provide financial analysis support
  • Provide leadership to special projects as required
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director

Salary range $65K – 75K based upon experience. Benefits available
