Position Summary:
Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity (MVHFH) is a nonprofit housing organization that brings people together to build homes, community and hope in Lucas County. We work toward this vision by building and improving homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of a decent and affordable place to live.
The Home Repair Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a fair and efficient processing of the Home Repair and Home Rehab Program applications through the approval process and for administrative coordination once project completed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Screens phone calls along with in-person requests and mails out applications.
• Oversee application process from initial call through return of completed application, tracking each potential applicant through the process.
• Communicate with applicants and community groups about program details, requirements, and application status.
• Process completed applications and perform necessary background checks as per approved policy to determine applicant eligibility.
• Coordinate home visits between homeowner and Home Repair and Rehab Managers with necessary paperwork.
• Prepare applications for presentation to the Home Repair Program Selection Committee.
• Maintain efficient and organized filing system for applications and approved projects.
• Coordinate scheduling of projects in conjunction with the Home Repair Manager and Home Rehab Project Manager.
• Ensure approval and signing of contracts with Partner Families.
• Coordinate paperwork and administrative processes including grant fulfillment requirements.
• Generate grant reports.
• Provide support and resources for the Repair Committee.
• Provide support and coordinate projects that encourage neighborhood revitalization through Rock the Block events in targeted communities.
• Evaluate the adequacy, efficiency and responsiveness of the program and its policies.
• Be familiar with the resources in the community in order to refer appropriate applicants to other available resources.
• Provide yearly review of the Home Repair Program Operations Manual and Home Rehab Policies and Procedures to ensure it is effective and in accordance with current legal and affiliate requirements.
• Produce annual Impact Report sharing qualitative and quantitative information based on homeowner’s experience and demographic information, and communicate results to all stakeholders.
• Maintain compliance in all mortgage loan origination and loan servicing practices to mitigate organizational risk, up to and including, placing liens on property.
• Assist in managing delinquency among Home Repair homeowners by following federal, state, and affiliate guidelines for qualification, encourage participation in ACH payments, and provide monthly reports.
• Maintain confidential files of all documents related to denied and accepted applicants.
• Provide requested reports to Board of Trustees.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Certifications and Skills
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three (3) years of related experience in human services or social work. Experience in a non-profit organization is desirable.
• Willingness to advocate for the mission of Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity.
• An understanding of the housing industry and challenges facing low-income families.
• Excellent interpersonal and cultural competency skills to effectively and collaboratively work with a wide spectrum of people.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to train, work with, and relate to volunteers.
• Strong organization skills and an independent work ethic.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and evenings
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, general computer expertise such as email and social media platforms, ability to learn and execute various software databases and systems.
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured under Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity’s auto insurance
• Must pass background check including criminal records and sex offender registry prior to offer of employment.
• Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, and other Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity staff.
• Must have commitment to the Habitat mission and uphold its values and ethics.
