Homeless Services Program Coordinator

Reports To:     Assistant Director

Job Purpose:   Oversees the strategic implementation and evaluation of Hope House transitional shelter and rental assistance programs while striving for the highest quality of service and ensuring that programs and are meeting designated standards and outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all aspects of Hope House programming, including programs implemented through Region 11 partners, are efficiently executed and properly implemented.
  • Maintaining a high level of understanding of all Hope House programs and state/federal level supports.
  • Possessing an acute awareness of trends in the community and presenting this information in a way that is understood and appreciated by peers and community members.
  • Troubleshooting support services within Hope House programs.
  • Performing client file checks for all Hope House programs and Region 11 partners and ensuring program staff maintain appropriate daily documentation and record keeping.
  • Supporting and evaluating the work of case management staff and monitoring appropriate grant implementation and compliance.
  • Overseeing the prioritization of shelter intakes and background checks.
  • Guiding case management staff with navigating challenging client interactions and communication.
  • Educating social service entities in the community about Hope House programs.
  • Overseeing the social work intern process and placement.
  • Facilitating monthly case management meetings.
  • Providing meeting and registration information to case managers regarding educational opportunities and staying current with new trends and theories.
  • Overseeing Coordinated Entry and Diversion implementation.
  • Coordinating prioritization of intakes.
  • Overseeing Fair Housing grant submission and that objectives and activities are met and conducted by the agreed upon dates per city & county contracts.
  • Staying abreast of landlord/tenant advocacy policies by attending state and federal trainings and webinars.
  • Cultivating landlord relationships through quarterly recognition.
  • Assisting with grant writing as needed.
  • Participating in collaborative community committees related to homelessness and poverty.
  • Providing support for the Housing Office and Transition Shelter Program by answering the phone and door while in the office.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director and CEO.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or correlating human service field required.
  • LSW preferred.
  • Experience assisting homeless and under-resourced populations preferred.
  • Familiarity with affordable housing issues and Housing First approach highly valued.
  • Knowledge and practice of Trauma Informed Care highly valued.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to improving the housing situation of homeless and under-resourced individuals in Hancock County.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of cultural diversity.
  • A professional attitude and the ability to manage time and organize work demands, work effectively in stressful situations, think critically, and exercise discretion and independent judgement.
  • Adherence to the Social Work Code of Ethics.
  • Excellent IT skills.
