JOB TITLE: Job Coach

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

MISSION OF GOODWILL:

Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501c3 corporation whose mission is to assist individuals with barriers to employment become self-sufficient through employment training and opportunities. Since 1933, we have assisted thousands of individuals throughout Northwest Ohio to become economically independent.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assisting clients with job readiness activities and job skills training hours if necessary.
  • Work cooperatively with all employers and professional staff toward achieving the work experience need of the clients.
  • Complete daily-required documentation and reports on client participation and accountability
  • Work one on one at a Goodwill facility, or in the community at a company or business, aiding consumer in

job readiness activities.  Consumers may be coping with one or more barrier to employment.

  • Learn the job tasks, train the consumer, and assess performance.
  • Perform task analysis to determine training sequence and performance benchmarks.
  • Observe the consumer’s work behavior, interaction with associates, take notation, and compose a report documenting over-all performance, needs, limitations, and strengths.
  • Interact with consumer in such a manner that establishes quality levels are maintained.
  • Type detailed and relevant case notes for each day working with the consumer, and turn case notes in on time.
  • Promote consumer independence, provide visual supports or strategies, fading as appropriate, and using fewer prompts.
  • Treat the consumer with the highest level of professional and ethical behavior, maintaining confidentiality, healthy boundaries, and acting at all times as a good role model.
  • Encourage a learning environment, allow for failures and successes to be opportunities for growth and learning.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of various barriers to employment and their vocational implications.
  • Knowledge of in-demand jobs and specifically tailored job seeking skills.
  • Must be a well-organized, outgoing, independent, and self-motivated individual.
  • Must be able to handle a full caseload of clients.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks well and shift focus as needed.
  • Must be able to navigate multiple modes of communication and employment engagement/motivational tactics as needed.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide own transportation.
  • Must possess good public speaking and writing abilities.
  • Experience working with disabled and/or disadvantaged persons is preferred.

 

Supervision Title:  Community Employment Services Manager

 

Supervision Exercised:  Clients assigned for community-based assessment, job shadowing, informational interviews, job trials, and work integration.
