Pay:  $46,000-$50,000 annually

The YMCA of Greater Toledo is a thriving, association with 10 branches and 20 child care centers, serving over 50,000 members annually. The Wayman Palmer YMCA, with operating revenue of $775K, serves our central city community, providing healthy living, wellness, youth, and mentoring programs. This branch also serves as a community hub, working with numerous partner agencies to provide additional community services. In partnership with the City of Toledo we will break ground in 2023 to build a brand new $21M, 40,000+ square foot facility including a family fun pool, full size gymnasium, and state of the art wellness facilities.

Under the guidance of the District Vice President, the Operations Director is responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of the Wayman Palmer Branch including membership, marketing, programs, facilities, and staff development, while providing support to the Branch Executive Director with financial development, community relations and collaborations with community organizations.

We are seeking a high-energy, dedicated, well-organized, self-starter with proven successful experience with staff supervision, fundraising, volunteer and community relations, board and volunteer development, and financial management. The candidate must be responsive to change, possess practical oral and written communication skills, think strategically and creatively, and have superior problem-solving abilities. Enthusiasm for collaboration and working as part of a team is essential. The Operations Director must understand the complexity of the community and the significance of collaboration and partnership with public and private resources. In addition, the Operations Director must strengthen a culture of inclusion with a commitment to championing social equity initiatives.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in human services, social services, business, or equivalent degree.
  2. 3 years or more experience in a management role with direct supervision of multiple staff.
  3. Desire and capacity to achieve positive results in the area of membership, program development and administration, staff supervision, and fiscal management.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Strong organizational skills, self-starter with initiative to work independently.
  6. Must have the capacity to develop strong, positive relationships with branch volunteers, business and civic leaders and give dynamic leadership to board staff and community.
  7. Ability to analyze complex information and to define and solve problems.
  8. Passionate commitment to the YMCA mission, member engagement, and the YMCA character values.
  9. Must have visual, physical, and auditory ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
  10. Professional demeanor and proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating staff and volunteers and developing an effective staff team.
  11. Proven experience with fiscal management, with budgetary responsibilities greater than $500,000.

Essential Functions

  1. To provide leadership to the branch’s membership, health & wellness, youth development, and youth sports departments. Provide staff with the tools and direction they need to reach the branch’s goals in new member acquisition, member retention, and program development.
  2. Establish membership retention and development goals that correspond with Association goals and are in tune with the community climate.
  3. Champion diversity and inclusion initiatives through staff cultivation and community engagement.
  4. Develop and monitor with department staff budgets that are aggressive yet realistic, allowing the YMCA to serve the community in the largest possible way.
  5. Provide day-to-day leadership throughout the branch ensuring all member, volunteer, and staff needs are being met and that the YMCA’s assets are protected and in good working order at all times.
  6. Provide strong recruitment, development, and succession planning processes to ensure high-quality staff hiring, professional development, and retention.
  7. Ensures that all the policies of the organization are implemented, including Financial, Human Resources, and Program Policies.
  8. Ensures that department directors maintain current certifications, training, and performance evaluations for staff.
  9. Work with department directors to develop annual performance goals and objectives aligned with approved departmental budgets.
  10. Provide support for Branch Annual Campaign by leading a staff division.
  11. Participates on Association Services committees, service delivery teams, or other committees as requested.

Salary Range: $46,000-$50,000
