Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator

Position Summary

The Girls on the Run® Volunteer Coordinator must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades.  This position will be responsible for planning, organizing, recruiting, directing and retaining the volunteers associated with Girls on the Run of Northwest Ohio. It will entail an average of 10 hours a week with some weeks less and some weeks more during peak times of the organization. Some weekend and evening times maybe required. The volunteer coordinator will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the Program Director.

Position Profile

  • Organize, coordinate, and manage the recruitment of volunteers for the organization.
  • Participate as a member of the GOTRNWO 5k committee.
  • Work with social, civic, and local organizations to develop partnerships, where appropriate, to recruit, develop and/or utilize volunteers.
  • Develop and implement training programs for all volunteers.
  • Attend GOTR National Coach Training – T3 and help with coach training each season.
  • Maintain one comprehensive database of volunteers including contact information as well as valid interest and skill set information.
  • Develop and implement a volunteer recognition and retention program
  • Build a team of dedicated volunteers who will conduct site visits throughout the GOTR season and fill out a quality survey after each visit.

Required Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree
  • Passion for Girls on the Run mission and the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health
  • Outstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences (internal and external)
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make efficient decisions
  • Strong project management skills
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work in a team environment.
  • Proficient with computer utilizing Microsoft Office applications and other web-based applications
  • Strong presentation skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating and implementing volunteer programs in non-profit organizations
  • Experience with public or non-profit programs
  • Experience with Girls on the Run (or other similar youth or wellness programs)
  • Connections to the local community
