Location: SAME Café Toledo (Location TBD)

Reports To: So All May Eat, Inc. Executive Director

Salary: $60,000-$65,000 depending on experience

Type Of Position: Full Time Exempt. Days, nights, weekends, and offsite events required.

Incentives: Vacation accrual, optional health, dental, and eye insurance coverage at an 80/20 premium split

ABOUT SAME CAFE

So All May Eat / SAME Café creates community through healthy food access and is the longest running nonprofit restaurant in the country! We provide delicious healthy meals to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Each guest who comes through the door is treated exactly the same and orders from the daily-changing menu and then participates in the mission by donating time, money, or produce.

After nearly 15 years of serving meals to guests experiencing food insecurity in Denver, we are thrilled to be expanding nationally, starting with SAME Café Toledo!

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Executive Director of SAME Café Toledo you will be responsible for the successful functioning of SAME Café and creating a welcoming and safe environment for all guests and volunteers. This position will be responsible for managing all operations and fundraising for SAME Cafe with the guidance of the So All May Eat, Inc. Executive Director. In addition, you will be responsible for hiring and training all new front of house (FOH) staff.

In this position you will often be required to lift up to 50- pounds, stand for long periods of time, bend, reach, go up and down steps, work in extreme temperatures, and work with the Executive Chef and staff to deescalate guests and volunteers. You will also be required to drive company vehicles.

 

JOB DUTIES

Fundraising Management

  • Meet annual fundraising goals and seek new funding opportunitiesDevelop and implement a fundraising strategy for SAME Café Toledo with the So All May Eat, Inc. Executive Director and Board of Advisors
  • Offer creative ideas for new fundraising events and opportunities
  • Create and manage evening events at the Café
  • Create and manage fundraising events with the Executive Chef and So All May Eat, Inc.  Executive Director
  • Give presentations about SAME Café’s mission to partners and potential partners
  • Track and maintain donor data in Little Green Light, an online donor management tool
  • Other duties as assigned

Cafe Management – Front of House (FOH)

  • Manage the Executive Chef and all other Café staff
  • Manage weekly schedule for staff, volunteers, and service members
  • Oversee FOH staff, service members, and core volunteers
  • Oversee training and onboarding of new staff with the Executive Chef
  • Provide regular training for staff and volunteers with the Executive Chef and Denver leadership team
  • Post messages daily on social media that are consistent with the organizational branding standards and ethos
  • Ensure compliance with Certifiably Green standards
  • Ensure routine equipment and building maintenance 
  • Recruit and manage artist relationships and scheduling
  • Other duties as assigned

Administrative Management

  • Track and report all SAME Café Toledo data including staff hours, volunteer data, in-kind contributions, and monetary donations
  • Manage daily and weekly donation deposits
  • Maintain budget compliance for Café
  • Provide trauma informed care and safety trainings for staff and volunteers with Executive Chef and So All May Eat, Inc. Executive Director
  • Track and reconcile all bank account expenditures in Quickbooks
  • Regularly recognize and appreciate staff and volunteers
  • Ensure all business licenses, DMV issues, and permits are up to date
  • Other duties as assigned

Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, train, and onboard daily volunteers
  • Recruit, train, and onboard CORE volunteers 
  • Manage site volunteer relations, including volunteer appreciation
  • Manage community service volunteers, relations with parole/probation officers, and record service hours
  • Coordinate volunteer opportunities with partner organizations and farms 
  • Manage and develop internships from local high schools and colleges
  • Other duties as assigned

Partnership Development and Management 

  • Develop and maintain community partnerships with local farmers, gardeners, and organizations
  • Maintain partnership records and contacts for reporting and data tracking purposes 
  • Track in-kind donations from farms, gardens, and partner organizations
  • Give presentations about SAME Café’s mission to partners and potential partners
  • Develop partners for fundraising events, Annual Gala, and seasonal meals
  • Other duties as assigned

Cook to Work Management

  • Work with other staff to train participants in the C2W modules
  • Work with other staff to oversee and guide participants through modules
  • Other duties as assigned

Selected candidates will be asked to do three interviews and a small project to find the perfect fit. The first interview will be with the Toledo team and SAME Executive Director Brad Reubendale. The second interview will be with the SAME Café Denver team. The third interview will be with selected SAME Café Toledo Advisory Board members. Candidates selected for the 3rd interview will be asked to submit a fundraising outline before the final interview. 

Candidates who are selected to participate in a 2nd interview will be compensated at $30/hr for each interview and up to 4 hours of preparation time for the final interview and the creation of the fundraising plan.
