Employment Status:  Full-Time, 2nd Shift, Tuesday-Saturday from 4:30pm-1:00am
Hourly Compensation:  $12.92 + shift differential as set by the collective bargaining agreement

SUMMARY:
Works as part of a team that creates and maintains the physical appearance of the Museum’s buildings and grounds to the highest standards.  Performs routine tasks to create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and staff.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Performs all housekeeping duties, including but not limited to the following:
    • Regularly dusts and cleans; including windows, walls, ceilings, woodwork, restrooms, cases in galleries, etc. Polishes metalwork, wet and dry-mops floors to include use of floor cleaning machines as needed. Stocks supplies for restrooms and classrooms. Keeps storerooms clean and orderly.
    • Empties trash in all areas of Museum, transports trash and waste to disposal area and keeps disposal area free of litter.
    • Assists with delivery of bulk freight and other deliveries, transports small equipment, supplies and tools between Museum areas, and moves office furniture and other furniture as requested.
    • Performs emergency clean-up as needed.
  • Sets up and tears down for special events, including but not limited to the following:
    • Sets up tables, chairs and other items as directed on work orders and diagrams. Makes necessary adjustments as directed by Special Events Staff or Programming Staff.
    • Removes equipment following special events and Museum activities, removes trash and debris, and returns gallery and/or meeting areas to clean and orderly condition.
  • Assists with Grounds duties when needed, including but not limited to the following:
    • Performs snow and ice removal as needed.
    • Performs lawn maintenance to include edging, trimming and hand mowing as needed.
    • Performs litter clean-up as needed.
    • Performs mulching and weeding as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • At least 18 years of age, have high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience in the past 3 years, cleaning in a large commercial or institutional environment
  • Working knowledge of all equipment and materials used in utility work, including floor scrubbers, cleaners and waxers/buffers.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES
  • Requires valid driver’s license; must be insurable through TMA insurance company.
  • Ability to pass a background check, physical exam, and drug screen.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions given in written, diagrammatic, and verbal form, including but not limited to basic work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manual.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, both verbally and in writing; ability to perform basic computer functions.
  • Must be well-organized, have a strong work ethic with attention to detail with excellent follow-through and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Normal range of vision and hearing (corrected impairment acceptable).
  • Must be able to bend, reach, climb (ladders), and lift and move up to 50 lbs., work in tight spaces as well as heights; remain on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in extremes of outdoor conditions.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position requires the ability to bend, reach, climb (ladders), lift heavy loads (50 lbs.), move heavier objects and work in tight spaces.  Must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time and work in extremes of heat and cold.  Some duties will involve working in wet or humid conditions and near moving mechanical parts.  May occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and/or work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
