Purpose:

To be an innovative, forward-thinking team member responsible for recruiting, engaging, managing, and retaining volunteers for the work of the mission.

Essential Functions:
·         Recruit individual volunteers by developing and maintaining various channels of communications through in-person, onsite, online, and social media strategies

·         Recruit corporate relationships in an ongoing effort to develop and maintain more significant, and consistent groups of volunteers

·         Engage volunteers to know and discover where their talents are best used

·         Engage volunteers in assuring training is appropriate to their assigned positions

·         Manage the daily volunteer opportunities of the ministry by consistent communication via phone and email to volunteers and staff

·         Manage the schedule of volunteer opportunities using CERVIS

·         Retaining volunteers through personal contact or mass communication celebrating the impact of their contributions to the community as a team

·         Directs and documents an ongoing recruiting effort to increase volunteerism

·         Conduct volunteer orientation both in-person and online

·         Maintain staff schedules and communications to cover volunteer openings

·         Maintain consistent collaboration with Operation Project Manager and Food Service Warehouse Manager and Operations Lead Technician to plan, schedule, and facilitate large group operations projects and internal/external events.

·         Update and post volunteer schedules for upcoming events

·         Lead building tours with volunteer and external groups

Qualifications
Education and Experience
·         High school Diploma or GED is required

·         Bachelor’s degree is preferred; or equivalent years of work experience that results in comparable knowledge attained through such education

·         2+ years of experience working directly with volunteers preferred

·         1+ years of experience working with other technical and non-technical resources in a collaborative, team format: i.e. SharePoint

·         1+ years of experience working with volunteer-based software programs with structured and unstructured data

·         Project management and event planning experience preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
·         Knowledge of fundamental technologies in a Microsoft environment: operating systems, networking, security, databases, etc.

·         Ability to work with other technical and non-technical resources in a collaborative, team format

·         Effective communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate the work done by the ministry and thoroughly convey the intended message to volunteers and team members

·         Ability to maintain accuracy with data entry, analysis, and reporting

·         Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines without prompts

·         Ability to proactively identify, trouble-shoot, and communicate problems or errors

·         Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities and competencies

·         Excellent writing and presentation skills

Lifting Requirements

☒ Sedentary work – Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
