Volunteer Coordinator

This is an hourly full-time position which generally is Mon-Fri from 9-5 with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for monthly outings and other scheduled events.

The coordinator will provide DSP support services to the Individuals during the outings which may include feeding/meal prep, toileting, medications. The applicant must have a valid driver’s license and car insurance and be comfortable talking in public to others. Prior program event planning experience is a plus.

SUMMARY: Assist the Volunteer Engagement Director and the entire Community Relations team in communicating with volunteers, maintaining organized records and assisting with volunteer activities; include recruiting and training new volunteers, keeping a database of volunteer information and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills, and keeping volunteers informed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Communicates with all departments of the organization to identify available opportunities and needs for volunteers.
  • Plans community engagement activities for those who we support, including planning, transportation, registrations, etc.
  • Recruits volunteer staff to fit these roles using a variety of resources and techniques.
  • Gathers information about each volunteer’s skills, availability, and goals; matches volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on this data.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and assigns volunteers to appropriate departments, supervisors, and/or mentors.
  • Regularly communicates with volunteers to ensure placement is a good fit for individual’s skills and goals.
  • Maintains files, records, applications, and other data concerning volunteer program.
  • Drafts, maintains, and publishes guidelines, best practices, and procedures for volunteer program.
  • Coordinates volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Word and Excel
  • Experience in using database applications, preferably Donor Perfect
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrate a high rate of productivity
  • Show outstanding customer relation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Illustrate strong organizational skills
