POSITION TITLE: Accounting & Financial Analyst
REPORTS TO: VP of Finance & CFO
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for accounting functions that are relevant to general ledger accounting, gift processing, cash disbursements, and financial reporting.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
The following duties reflect management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Specific responsibilities in a representative area of accounting may also be assigned.
- Responsible for account reconciliation and accruals.
- Perform accounting and analytical review functions, which may include cash, investments, receivables, fixed assets, accrued expenses, debt (covenants), cash flow, revenue and expenditures.
- Integral team member in the preparation and analysis of year-end reconciliation and analytical review of financial statement information required for the annual audit with external independent accountants.
- Reconcile between Gift Processing database and Accounting General Ledger Software. Investigate and correct system updates or human data input error with IT Dept.
- Use and understand complex formulas performed in calculation of pledge analysis,
- Work with development and other groups to provide recommendations that ensure accounting processes are administered appropriately while meeting donor wishes as well as Foundation and Financial Aid guidelines.
- Coordinate and lead projects as assigned.
- Act as liaison with UT stakeholders for accounting matters.
- May act as Accounting System Administrator.
- May supervise and provide direction and assistance to staff in routine day-to-day matters, ensuring accurate and timely general ledger accounting, gift processing, cash disbursements and financial reporting.
- Other duties and back up/cross training responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 3 years professional experience in accounting
- Advanced Excel skills using Pivot tables, Macro functions, and Excelerator function
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Not for profit experience preferred
- CPA desired or accounting college credits earned to take the CPA exam.
- Ability to work independently
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of GAAP and federal regulations as they relate to financial statement reporting.
- The ability to learn and knowledgeably interpret the Foundation’s policies and procedures as they relate to financial reporting.
