SUMMARY
Works as part of Development Team to coordinate the Museum’s General Membership program. Implements membership strategies aimed at member acquisition, retention, and fulfillment of benefits; assists with other annual giving programs. Provides direct support to Museum members and stewards these relationships. Assists with retention efforts, working in conjunction with Annual Campaign Manager to best coordinate, market, and evaluate membership renewal process. Assists with Annual Campaign planning and responsible for department calendar.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Stewards yearly membership and annual giving plans to meet or exceed budget goals.
  • Assists with the design, coordination, and implementation of direct mail and online efforts for annual membership retention and acquisition efforts.
  • Captures and measures renewal response rates; works with Annual Campaign Manager to evaluate renewal process.
  • Answers all membership-related inquiries by e-mail, regular mail, and telephone; provides follow-up as necessary; logs all calls from response to resolution in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Handles appropriate administrative duties for the department such as filing and following up with communications to members.
  • Assists with the planning, coordination, and execution of member events.
  • Assists with recruitment of potential members by attending and presenting membership opportunities at corporate and community organization receptions.
  • Supports gift processing and acknowledgements using the Raiser’s Edge system. Performs other records management activities as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
RELATIONSHIPS
  • Reports to the Annual Campaign Manager.
  • Works closely with the Development Services Team to help ensure coordination of membership giving, recognition, and benefit fulfillment.
  • Works with TMA colleagues in other functional teams across Museum, such as Marketing, Special Events, and Visitor Engagement.
  • Interacts regularly with visitors, members, and potential donors to ensure customer satisfaction.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2 years of administrative support experience required.
  • Experience with coordinating, designing, and promoting marketing materials required.
  • Strong computer skills to include familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.) required.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge (or similar Customer Relationship Management system) preferred.
  • Experience coordinating a membership program for a museum or cultural organization preferred.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal. Capable of collaborating as part of a team as well interdepartmentally across Museum.
  • Superior time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced work environment. Able to plan, organize, and remain accountable for actions, as well as function in a confidential manner.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The person in this position frequently attends events inside and outside of TMA, with non-standard, occasional extended work hours and weekends. Position requires ability to operate a computer and other office equipment such as copy machine, printer, and phone system.
