Sunshine Communities, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Northwest Ohio supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through residential, vocational, clinical, therapeutic, and recreational services. These services are offered in various circumstances including at our Maumee, Ohio campus and at homes within the community. In addition to programs on campus, Sunshine individuals and staff operate Georgette’s Grounds and Gifts, a coffee shop and fair trade gift store located in downtown Maumee. Right across the road lies Sunshine Studios, an art studio space and gift store offering classes to individuals and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree; in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, and/or Graphic Design degree required, and 1-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with administrative tasks preferred
  • Effective written & verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience in Adobe Creative Suite or Canva a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to keep highly organized; strong problem solving skills
  • Able to lift 60 pounds
  • Valid Driver’s License, good driving record and auto insurance
  • Able to pass criminal background, drug test and physical

 

SUMMARY

The Communications Coordinator will support, assist, and coordinate the Communications efforts for Sunshine Communities, working under the direction of the Communications Manager. The ideal candidate will prepare agendas, manage projects, conduct research, as well as produce various materials as needed. The candidate should be an excellent communicator with strong attention to detail, highly organized, and have a hard working attitude with an ability to keep up with a faced paced team.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Offer administrative support to Communications projects and in-house teams
  • Ensure Communications project deadlines are met
  • Send out reminders for content, project deadlines, and advertisements
  • Assist with gathering content from other departments
  • Order items for Communications projects
  • Ensure other departments have items stocked & print inventory is stocked
  • Ensure brand standards are met for various Sunshine brands
  • Pay invoices to vendors and accounts
  • Schedule interviews, photoshoots, photographers, and video shoots as needed for Communications projects
  • Communicate via phone, email, or in-person with constituents
  • Design flyers or supplemental materials as needed through design programs
  • Create communications process lists, instructional documents, and internal processes/standards
  • Assist with newsletter and publication creation and distribution
  • Assist with Communications file retention and maintenance
  • Take photos at events, upload, organize, and label photo files
  • Schedule, maintain, and coordinate media authorizations and profile photos
  • Update and maintain TV slides
  • Assist with celebration weeks through orders, gifts, and features
  • Assist with events as needed on evenings or sometimes weekends
  • Support retail brands through: print, website, and social media
