Development & Fundraiser
Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter is seeking an energetic individual, who is passionate about helping felines find forever homes, to work in the capacity of relationship development and fundraising. This opportunity is a part-time (20-30 hours per week), reporting to the President of the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities include:
- Under the leadership of the Board of Directors and in consultation with the Shelter Manager, develop an annual fundraising and donor relations strategy.
- Execute fundraising strategies and initiatives.
- Research current and new donors to identify potential sources of major gifts, planned giving and other gifts.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit individuals and corporations to increase donor giving and grow revenue.
- Maintain a portfolio of qualified prospective donors.
- Develop, manage, and execute fundraisers and donor recognition events, including budget, sponsorship, logistics, and marketing
- In collaboration with Shelter Manager, create newsletters and other marketing materials.
- Curate social media content related to donor relations and fundraising for posting in collaboration with the Shelter Manager and/or designated staff member.
- Research and manage grant opportunities, including writing, reporting, and, in conjunction with the Office Manager, preparing reports of results to grantors as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- One (1) year previous non-profit fundraising experience (not events) required.
- One (1) year of previous experience writing, applying for, and managing grants required.
- Previous experience using donor database software preferred.
- Budget management.
- Demonstrated project management and time management skills required.
- Highly self-motivated and ability to work independently.
- Strong written, presentation, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service and follow through.
