General Summary

Plans, organizes, and directs the agency’s development efforts throughout our extensive service area.

 

Essential Duties

  1. Coordinates development and cultivation opportunities for Executive Director to engage, inspire and educate supporters and potential supporters.
  2. Assists with establishing long and short-term development goals.
  3. Oversees development functions including but not limited to donation solicitation, major gifts, special events, capital campaigns and planned-giving.
  4. Collaborates with Grant Coordinator to solicit and recognize corporate and charitable foundations.
  5. Oversees the creation of the annual Large Print Calendar, including sponsorships and distribution process.
  6. Oversees the creation of print and digital materials needed to achieve development goals, including annual reports, appeals, event flyers, sponsorship packets, and special purpose brochures.
  7. Develops and monitors annual budget for development efforts.
  8. Administers, develops and maintains donor database and mailing lists.
  9. Oversees donor recognition and acknowledgement processes.
  10. Responsible for providing a written development update for Board of Trustees.
  11. Serves as the staff liaison to appropriate committees of the board and attends additional committee meetings as needed.
  12. Assists with development-related website updates and social media content.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Scope of Responsibility

Knows the formal and informal team goals, standards, policies and procedures which may include familiarity with other agency teams.  Is sensitive to the interrelationship of both people and functions within the team.

Decision Making

On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  1. Three to five years of progressively responsible development experience.
  2. Able to work cooperatively with the team and independently focus on goals and objectives.
  3. Strong organizational skills.
  4. Ability to use a computer to enter, retrieve and process data, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  5. Must have excellent writing, editing and public speaking skills.
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills – must be able to effectively communicate The Sight Center’s mission, services and impact to various audiences, with appropriate tact and sensitivity.
