Director of Development

Catholic Charities – Diocese of Toledo is seeking a full-time Development Director. The Development Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the development office, involving planning, organization, coordination and continuous improvement of all fundraising activities for the Agency. This includes, but is not limited to, daily fundraising activities, direct mail campaign, planned giving, major gift solicitations, donor prospecting and engagement, creating and maintaining foundation connections and special events.

Duties include:

 

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, creates, evaluates and implements a comprehensive development plan with goals, objectives, methods, activities and related timelines for accomplishing the plan.
  • Provides ongoing progress reports of fundraising goals performance.
  • Coordinates agency efforts to secure major gifts, corporate gifts, foundation gifts and planned gifts.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with current and potential donors, as well as community funders.
  • Leads efforts to increase major donor contributions, both locally to the Toledo area as well as throughout the Diocese.
  • Manage, develop, and increase utilization of web design and donor database programs.
  • Prepares the annual development budget, including fundraising revenue projections and related costs.
  • Works with the Board, Committees, Agency personnel and consultants, as needed, to lead, prepare for and monitor the direct mail program, fundraising special events, donor recognition and other development activities.
  • Collaborates with the Agency Grant Writing Specialist to assist in identifying, researching and developing new funding sources.
  • Supervises the Donor Relations Associate and Donor Support Specialist.

 

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Communications, or a related field, with five years of senior development experience (experience with a faith-based, social service agency preferred); demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of development methods relating to donor cultivation, foundation solicitation, annual giving, and major donor engagement; maintain a current driver’s license, with the ability to travel within the Diocese of Toledo; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; ability to learn and effectively use Agency development software; ability to work flexible hours (some weekend and evening hours may be necessary); successful BCI/FBI background check prior to employment and every five years. Hybrid work environment option is available.
