About Sunshine:
Sunshine Communities, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Northwest Ohio supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through residential, vocational, clinical, therapeutic, and recreational services. These services are offered in various circumstances including at our Maumee, Ohio campus and at homes within the community. In addition to programs on campus, Sunshine individuals and staff operate Georgettes Grounds and Gifts, a coffee shop and fair trade gift store located in downtown Maumee. Right across the road lies Sunshine Studios, an art studio space and gift store offering classes to individuals and the community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Word and Excel
  • Experience in using database applications, preferably Donor Perfect
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrate high rate productivity
  • Show outstanding customer relation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Illustrate strong organizational skills
  • Valid Driver’s License, good driving record, and auto insurance
  • Able to pass criminal background, drug test, and physical

Job Details:

This position works with the Chief Community Relations Officer and the entire Community Relations team to ensure a successful annual fundraising effort with attention to cultivating new donors (individual, corporations, and foundations) overseeing proper record keeping, maintaining existing relationship with donors, and assisting in managing mail appeals and grant efforts.

 

  • Establish annual fundraising targets and key projects to be funded with the approval of the Chief Community Relations Officer and Board and assist in the building of an annual strategy around these targets.
  • Cultivate new donors (individual. corporations, and foundations) and build upon existing donor relationships.
  • Engage volunteer board members, steering committee members, and others to introduce prospective donors who may have an interest in Sunshine’s mission and projects.
  • Coordinate with the Volunteer Department to identify potential donors among volunteers.
  • Follow up annual appeal donations with personal contacts, as appropriate, to encourage new and repeat donors.
  • Use analytic tools/database information and work closely with XXX to identify new donors.
  • Identify prospects for Sunshine’s planned giving platform, The Engler Society.
  • Assist in the planning of mail appeals in conjunction with Communications Manager.
  • Assist in the target outcome for each appeal; determine project focus and target audience; provide input on design; and work with Community Relations and Communications teams to ensure proper execution.
  • Assist in management of grant strategy and writing.
  • Identify annual grant prospects, including the foundations that support Sunshine annually, and potential new grant opportunities.
  • Determine, along with program staff, the priorities for funding.
  • Work with Donor Relations team to ensure proper timing of grant applications, proper execution of applications, and proper management of awarded grant funds.
  • Determine, alongside Chief Community Relations Officer, when outside resources are needed to complete specialized grant requests.
