Position Summary:
Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity (MVHFH) is a nonprofit housing organization that brings people together to build homes, community, and hope in Lucas County. Our vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We work toward this vision by building and improving homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of a decent and affordable place to live. As a Christian ministry, we also strive to keep God at the Center of all that we do. The Donor Engagement Manager is responsible for growing MVHFH’s community of donors by renewing and upgrading support, building a funnel of new donors, and strengthening relationships with current donors.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive fundraising support with a focus on individual donor solicitation and stewardship efforts.
  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors working to secure annual, monthly, and major gifts.
  • Plan the strategy and implement annual giving campaigns including but not limited to direct mail, matching gifts, monthly giving, and online giving.
  • Responsible for the implementation of a planned giving program for purposes of increasing the perpetual support for the organization’s programs, services, and endowment.
  • Oversee the implementation of a donor recognition plan and proactively support the stewardship efforts of the Development Department, Executive Director, and Board.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of special giving campaigns that include capital, themed builds, and staff and board giving.
  • Help create awareness of the mission of Habitat for Humanity through outreach efforts, representing Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity at special events and relevant community and donor meetings.
  • Support MVHFH’s Development Department in developing applicable relationships, proposals, and compiling relevant information for reports to funders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, community-based organizations, community leaders and local government.
  • Provide support to the Development Department to prepare periodic fundraising reports and to ensure accurate donation funding accounting.
  • Support Development Department in meeting established yearly fundraising goals.
  • Support the maintenance of donor information in the database.
  • Develop healthy and productive relationships with all internal stakeholders and departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Certifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university – further education up to and including a BA/BS degree preferred
  • One to three years’ experience in donor engagement, resource development, nonprofit or related
  • Demonstrates experience and excellent interpersonal skills to establish, build, and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, board and committee members, donors, and volunteers.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently with limited supervision, willing to handle concurrent tasks and make appropriate judgments and decisions.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Willingness to advocate for the mission of Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity.
  • Good understanding of philanthropy as it relates to not-for-profit.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cultural competency skills to work with a wide spectrum of people effectively and collaboratively.
  • Strong organization skills and an independent work ethic.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, general computer expertise such as email and social media platforms, ability to learn and execute various software databases and systems.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured under Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity’s auto insurance.
  • Must pass background check including criminal records and sex offender registry prior to offer of employment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, and other Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity staff.
  • Willingness to attend training and conferences as appropriate.
  • Must have commitment to the Habitat mission and uphold its values and ethics.
