Expressive Arts Coordinator

Salary: $14HR ($29,120) – $20HR ($41,600)

The Thomas M. Wernert Center (TMWC) is looking for someone who will develop and implement an expressive arts program that includes a variety of opportunities for members to explore in the realm of visual arts, dramatic arts, movement and sound, language arts, and more. Personal or lived experience with mental illness or working with adults living with mental illness and/or alcohol and other drug addictions, developmental disabilities, or related fields in social service preferred. This position is 40 hours per week with medical, dental, life, short term disability, employee assistance program, retirement (403B), and paid time off.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Enthusiastically engage members in expressive arts activities that helps promote recovery
    and self-sufficiency among members
  • Develop and implement compelling arts programs, providing vision and instruction
  • Create an ongoing schedule of expressive arts programming, including outings and activities
  • Oversee inventory of art supplies and equipment; ordering of supplies as needed
  • Maintain a positive, healthy and safe work environment, including cleanliness and
    organization of art studio
  • Develop an ongoing awareness of trends and practices in expressive arts
  • Maintain accurate records and files according to agency and funding agency standards.
  • Document information regarding member participation in expressive art services
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of annual expressive arts budget
  • Participate in in-service training programs.

Experience, Educational Qualifications and Abilities

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expressive arts experience, including; visual arts, movement, music and sound,
    dramatic art, language arts, crafts, drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media
  • Ability to lead expressive arts programming
  • Personal or lived experience with mental illness preferred
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Needs minimal or no oversight to complete duties
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License and must maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office and the internet.
