Neighborhood Health Association (NHA), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), is the largest community health center system in Northwest Ohio with partnerships that include ProMedica, Mercy Health, and University of Toledo Medical Center. NHA has grown from a single location in 1969 to 12 medical and dental clinics throughout Lucas County. Today we operate multiple health centers including pediatrics, adult medicine, dental services, and health care for the homeless, women’s health center, senior centers and a full service pharmacy with lab services on site.

General Function:

To ensure all patients and the general public are greeted and treated with courtesy and respect. To properly, accurately, and confidentially manage patient information through the electronic health record and other mediums.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides friendly and courteous greetings for patients and/or visitors to the clinics
  • Answer and direct any incoming calls
  • Use of overhead paging system when necessary
  • Respond appropriately to patient inquiries
  • Be able to generate patient messages and patient medication requests through the EHR
  • Will be knowledgeable of LEP policy in order to accurately manage our non-English speaking patients
  • Manage incoming calls and direct them to proper department and/or extension
  • Be knowledgeable of Release of Information process and manage any front- desk requests working with Medical Records in order for request to get processed
  • Process any deliveries and incoming mail following NHA guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Preferred, minimum 2-3 years experience working in an office and/or clinical setting
  • Prior Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center is preferred
  • Possess a strong desire to carry out and promote the mission and vision of Neighborhood Health Association
  • Detail oriented along with the ability to manage time efficiently
  • Pleasant and professional demeanor and temperament during times of stressful and difficult situations
  • Ability to relate effectively to a diverse group of patients in a professional and courteous manner
  • Must have computer knowledge and a strong background in medical terminology
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with regular interruptions
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds on occasion
  • Must show initiative, independent thinking, and ability to use sound judgment in the absence of specific orders
  • Possess proficient reading, grammar, and communication skills

This is a full-time hourly position, working 37.5 hours per week. Monday – Friday, no weekends or holidays
