About Sunshine:

Sunshine Communities, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Northwest Ohio supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through residential, vocational, clinical, therapeutic, and recreational services. These services are offered in various circumstances including at our Maumee, Ohio campus and at homes within the community. In addition to programs on campus, Sunshine individuals and staff operate Georgette’s Grounds, a coffee shop and Sunshine Studios, an art studio space and gift store offering classes to individuals and the community; both are located in downtown Maumee.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Associates Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant
  • Licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant/Eligible in State of Ohio
  • 18 years or older
  • Valid Driver’s License, good driving record, proof of auto insurance
  • Able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen and physical
  • Able to lift 60 pounds

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: include the following:

  • Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatments such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs.
  • Instructs, motivates, and assists individuals to learn and improve functional activities such as pre-ambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities on land and/or in the therapeutic pool
  • Completes timely and accurate documentation of services via EMR software, IR’s, email correspondence.
  • Observes individuals during treatments and compiles and evaluates data on individuals’ responses to treatments and progress and reports orally or in writing to Physical Therapist
  • Trains and educates individuals and staff in use and care of orthopedic braces, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, orthotics, and wheelchairs.
  • Confers with members of physical therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate individual’s information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
  • Performs clerical duties such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, and filling out forms.
  • Measures individual’s range-of-joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of specific treatments or to assist Physical Therapist to compile data for evaluations.
  • Participates and presents in new employee orientation and on-going training as needed. Trains and educates staff on individual programs and activities as related to Physical Therapy.
  • Attends and participates in interdisciplinary meetings as scheduled.
  • Performs adaptive equipment repairs, fabrication, preventative maintenance and monitoring.
