SUMMARY
Working within the Brand Experience team at the Toledo Museum of Art, the Marketing Manager plays a pivotal role in managing the overall workflow within the department. Brand Experience projects include exhibition design and marketing, community event marketing, education marketing, Museum Café and Store, membership and donor communication. These efforts work across various channels such as advertising, social media, PR, website, publications, and exhibition graphics.
The Marketing Manager sits at the center of our work helping ensure that all projects are clearly defined, budgeted, and delivered on time. They are skilled at communication and collaboration, building productive relationships with other key departments within the Museum. They work closely with the department leader – the Director of Brand Strategy – to shape and optimize how we create systems, frameworks, and communication flow so our team can create powerful creative work that makes the promise of the TMA come to life for our visitors.
Successful candidates for this role will bring strong collaborative and project management skills gathered from experience with a creative agency or within the marketing & communications department at an organization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Manages the overall workflow of the projects within the department
  • Collaborates with key departments – at all levels – to define the scope, requirements, timeline, and budget of multiple, simultaneous projects, and collect approvals as projects move toward completion
  • Monitors the resource capacities within the department and negotiates solutions to workloads and timelines that satisfy multiple stakeholders
  • Identifies and implements project management software to facilitate department projects, and have influence on how the preferred project management platform can be scaled and adopted by other departments
  • Maintains relations with key external vendors, such as local newspapers, digital, and outdoor advertising channels to distribute TMA marketing content in a timely manner
  • Manages the CRM system that delivers the Museum’s weekly emails
  • Crafts weekly marketing and communication emails
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 3-5 years’ work experience in a creative agency or marketing & communications department required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Standard open office work environment shared with co-workers, with related phone, computer and printer noise.  Position requires ability operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, printer and phone system; May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds; Support given to various departments across campus may result in occasional exposure to uncomfortable weather conditions.
