Job Title: Neighborhood Navigator

Job Overview: As a Neighborhood Navigator at The Junction Coalition, focused on the Junction Neighborhood in Toledo, Ohio, your primary responsibility is to serve as a vital link between community members and essential resources, with a specific emphasis on housing and lead poisoning prevention. Collaborating with local organizations, you will work to enhance services and ensure access to crucial resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Community Engagement:
    • Build trusting relationships with Junction Neighborhood residents.
    • Promote general support and encouragement within the community.
  2. Resource Coordination:
    • Connect individuals in the Junction Neighborhood with resources.
    • Facilitate access to lead poisoning prevention measures and services.
    • Report weekly outputs/outcomes to the Program Manager.
  3. Education and Training:
    • Participate in orientation, trainings, and community events in the Junction Neighborhood and with community partners.
    • Work with the team to identify opportunities to advance housing and lead poisoning prevention services.
  4. Social Justice Initiatives:
    • Reach and train Junction Neighborhood community members on legal literacy related to housing.
    • Refer community members for housing-related legal services.
    • Provide information on social justice initiatives related to housing rights.
  5. Lead Poisoning Prevention:
    • Engage with Junction Neighborhood communities to raise awareness about lead poisoning risks.
    • Develop and deliver educational programs on lead poisoning prevention.
    • Connect individuals in the Junction Neighborhood with available resources for lead testing and remediation.
  6. Advocacy and Policy Support:
    • Advocate for policies promoting housing rights and lead poisoning prevention.
    • Collaborate with policymakers to address systemic issues contributing to housing challenges and lead exposure.
    • Provide information to the Junction Coalition team for promotion and information regarding program engagement.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of applicable experience in a charitable organization.
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Passion for community work and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, community development, or related field.
  • Previous experience in community outreach, education, or public health advocacy.
  • Knowledge of housing rights, lead poisoning prevention, and public health initiatives.

This position may require occasional evening or weekend work. The Neighborhood Navigator will play a crucial role in promoting community health, fostering relationships, and ensuring access to essential resources in the Junction Neighborhood of Toledo, Ohio. Adherence to The Junction Coalition Code of Ethics is essential. Other duties as assigned to fulfill the mission of The Junction Coalition.
