Nurse Manager

Sunshine is now hiring a full-time Nurse Manager to report to the Director of Nursing and assist with the daily nursing operations and supervising a team of nursing personnel while working in conjunction with all other staff to provide exceptional quality of care through a holistic approach, while overseeing prescribed medical treatments and personal care services to Sunshine’s residents and clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Supervises and monitors the daily health related functions of the individuals we serve.

Supports the nursing department in making accurate and complete medical decisions to ensure that all the necessary medical needs are met.

Mentors, supports and encourages the staff nurses throughout any issues that arise.

Share On-Call duties per schedule to provide support to the nursing department.

Monitors staff schedules and ensures adequate staff coverage for all shifts, and needs Plans and implements nursing personnel schedules. May also as needed plan schedules for other personnel, students, volunteers, etc.

Assists with training and orientation of new nursing staff and monitor continuing education for current staff and provide instruction for training courses as needed.

Oversees, directs and supports Medical Appointment DSPs

Ensures that the nursing staff and nursing sites are functioning efficiently and are in compliance within the requirements of Licensure, Medicaid, Federal, State and Local Laws and follow all Nursing Standards of Care.

Recognizes and works in accordance to the rules and regulations set forth by the Ohio Board of Nursing in order to ensure safe nursing practices amongst nursing staff and with delegation of nursing tasks to unlicensed individuals.

Keeps VP of Nursing informed of day to day issues concerning the department and the individuals served by providing timely updates within the proper channels of communication.

Maintains relationships with the Direct Service managers, supervisors and house staff and keeps them up to date on medical issues.

Monitors the Electronic Medication Program and complete and review all documentation as needed.

Stays up to date and current on all medical appointments and coordinates nurse attendance and schedules as needed.

Oversees, monitors and supports all nursing care and staff through-out Sunshine including community and vocational services.

Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and be an active RN with strong leadership skills and be able to demonstrate patience and compassion with excellent communication and patient care skills. Critical thinking skills and good attendance record a must.Prior DD experience required.
