Volunteer Coordinator
The Volunteer Coordinator is at the heart of the action, recruiting, mobilizing and coordinating the volunteer efforts that keeps Habitat’s mission moving forwards. Seeking an energetic, team player to join our team!
Responsibilities:
- Recruit Volunteers
- Respond to all individual volunteer inquiries
- Develop and implement a strategy for soliciting, engaging, and maintaining new volunteers
- Interview and place volunteers for specific needs such as committee, office and special events
- Coordinate lunch servers for build sites
- Review and update job descriptions for volunteer positions
- Volunteer Training, Orientation
- Provide training workshops for specific volunteer roles, eg. Core Crew, Site Registration, etc.
- Coordinate First Aid Training
- Communication and coordination of volunteer groups for projects
- Act as liaison to other organizations who are sending volunteers
- Schedule volunteers to meet the volunteer needs of construction staff
- Data Entry
- Maintain volunteer database and keep records of volunteer activities, including numbers of teams, volunteers, hours worked, contact information, etc.
- Ensure that volunteer liability waivers are signed and filed
- Organize Volunteer Recognition Events
- Develop and implement formal and informal volunteer appreciation program
- Monitor volunteer satisfaction
- Communications
- Manage e-Newsletter for organization updates
- Manage social media accounts (ie. primarily Facebook)
- Professional Development
- Continuous development of knowledge and skills in Volunteer Management through webinars and workshops
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Executive Director
General Requirements:
- Excellent computer skills (eg. Microsoft Office, Bloomerang, Sign-Up Genius)
- Flyer design skills using software
- Enthusiasm, teamwork focused, and strong customer service orientation
- Well organized and detail oriented – able to execute action items identified in meetings
- Outgoing character who can go out into the community to recruit volunteers
- Self- motivated able to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Other requirement to do this job:
- Attending planning and scheduling meetings (weekly/monthly) for each Habitat project
- Schedule meetings and presentations outside of typical working hours, eg. Evenings, week-ends. Work hours can be flexed.
Work Environment and Conditions:
- Desk work and build-site work
- Some travel required to build sites to greet volunteers (mileage reimbursed)
