Community Engagement/Volunteer/Grant Coordinator

The Community Engagement/Volunteer/Grant Coordinator is at the heart of the action, recruiting, mobilizing and coordinating volunteers as well as participating in grant writing efforts that move Habitat’s mission forwards. Seeking an energetic, team player to join our team!

Responsibilities:

    1. Community Engagement: Engage the community to recruit, orient and train volunteers to meet the needs of the organization and the interests/skills of the volunteer
      1. Attend/Coordinate volunteers for booths, exhibitions
      2. Review and update job descriptions for volunteer positions
      3. Provide training workshops for specific volunteer roles, as well as First Aid Training, Competent Person Safety training
    2. Volunteer Coordinator: Engage individual or volunteer groups for build projects, lunch support, or events
      1. Maintain and build volunteer database
      2. Organize volunteer recognition events
      3. Mobilize ReStore volunteers as needed
    3. Grant Research and Writing
      1. Identify grant opportunities in line with Habitat’s mission
      2. Write and submit grant proposals
    4. Professional Development
      1. Seek continuous development of knowledge and skills in Community Engagement, Volunteer Management, and Grant writing through webinars and workshops
    5. Other responsibilities as assigned by Executive Director

General Requirements:

  • Excellent computer skills (eg. Microsoft Office, Bloomerang Database, Sign-Up Genius)
  • Enthusiasm, teamwork focused, and strong customer service orientation
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Self- motivated able to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Construction skills not required

Other requirement to do this job:

  • May need to schedule meetings and presentations outside of typical working hours, eg. Evenings, week-ends. Work hours can be flexed.

Work Environment and Conditions:

  • Desk work, build-site work, outreach in the community
  • Drug testing and background check required prior to hiring.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
